Andrew Kane, Ph.D., has Masters and Doctorate degrees in Human Development and Professional Coaching from the International University of Professional Studies (IUPS), where his PhD dissertation was on "midlife reinventions.” During his doctoral research, he developed a positive psychology coaching model to address midlife. His passion to pursue this research was a result of two tragic events in his own life - the death of his adult daughter from cancer and the collapse of Arthur Andersen. His undergraduate degree was in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE).
Dr. Kane practiced for several decades as a Managing Partner at Arthur Andersen, both as a Chartered Accountant in the UK (FCA) and CPA in the USA. Subsequently he was CEO of HSBC Private Bank in Southern California and then President of the Winnick family office and then the Simms/Mann family office. For many years, he has served as an independent director and board advisor to many boards, both public and private, for profit and non-for profit, including East West Bank and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, where he currently serves as Chairman. He is an Officer of the British Empire (OBE), awarded by HM The Queen, for his services to British and American business interests.
Dr. Kane is Chairman and Co-Founder of the Center for Professional Wellbeing, which is focused on three practice areas:
▪Midlife challenges and solutions
▪How to successfully advance a professional’s career
▪How an organization can thrive by enhancing wellbeing
Dr. Kane is author of an upcoming book in which he covers midlife and his creative approach to navigating adulthood from ages of about 20 to 80, by how to successfully traverse three successive adulthood bridges:
▪The Bridge of Accumulating Responsibilities
▪The Midlife Bridge and
▪The Bridge of Decumulation and Simplicity.
As an empathetic and active listener, Dr, Kane consults and coaches by seeking solutions around key issues of how to actively manage your stress, willpower, mindset, emotions values, aspirations and relationships at various stages of adulthood, in both your life and career.
Dr. Kane is a certified positive psychology coach and a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA) and the Harvard Affiliated Institute of Coaching (IOC). He lives with his wife Sarah in Southern California.
