Matt Licata, Ph.D., is a psychotherapist, writer, and independent researcher based in Boulder, Colorado. He is author of The Path is Everywhere: Uncovering the Jewels Hidden Within You (Wandering Yogi Press, 2017) and of the forthcoming A Healing Space: Befriending Ourselves in Difficult Times (Sounds True, 2020).
For the past 25 years, Matt has been involved in the rich and unfolding dialogue between mindfulness-based, contemplative and depth psychological approaches to personal growth, emotional healing, and spiritual transformation.
His doctoral dissertation explored the ways spiritual belief and practice can serve a defensive function in the avoidance of unresolved developmental wounding, and how both clinicians and individual practitioners can work with this phenomenon in a skillful, integral, and compassionate way.
His online teaching community, Befriending Yourself, opens to members a few times per year. More information can be found at http://www.befriendingyourself.com.
