Darren Testani, Ph.D., Chair of our Expressive Arts Therapy Department was born on the East coast where he attended Connecticut State University, earning Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Music and Philosophy. He was able to combine these three areas of interest in a Master's Degree in Expressive Therapies at Lesley University, where he received intensive training in Psychodrama, Poetry Therapy, Art Therapy, and Dance Therapy, and received certification (Certified Expressive Therapist) from the National Expressive Therapy Association.
Dr. Testani then moved to the west coast to work as an Expressive Therapist in a hospital setting. He completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the California Institute for Human Science, specializing in Integral Psychology. His career pursuits have led him to integrate hypnosis and suggestion into a unique blend of Expressive Arts. Dr. Testani resides in San Diego, enjoys teaching, and has a private practice. Aside from academics, he is a composer/pianist and a strong chess player.
